1. Who we are

Got Better is a design matching service that connects Y Combinator startups with senior product designers. Got Better is operated by its founders and is contactable at hello@gotbetter.co. For any privacy-related question, that is the fastest way to reach us.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Contact and brief details you submit through forms, such as your name, email address, company name, and project details when you request a match or apply as a designer.
• Communications you send us by email, chat, or scheduling a call.
• Payment information. When you pay for a subscription or service, payment is processed by third-party payment processors (for example, Stripe). We receive limited details such as the fact and amount of a payment and the last digits of a card, but we do not collect or store full card numbers on our own systems.

Information we collect automatically

• Usage and device data such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page, and general location, collected through cookies and analytics tools.

3. How we use your information

• To operate the matching service and connect you with designers.
• To create and manage your engagement, and to process payments.
• To respond to your messages and provide support.
• To send service-related communications, and, where permitted, occasional updates you can opt out of.
• To measure, maintain, and improve the site and our service.
• To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues, and to comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we process personal data on these bases: performance of a contract (to provide the service you request), legitimate interests (to run, secure, and improve our business in a way that does not override your rights), consent (for optional marketing or non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time), and legal obligation (to comply with applicable law).

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the service:

• Designers and talent we match you with, so an engagement can proceed.
• Service providers who work on our behalf, such as our hosting provider (Vercel), payment processor, analytics, and email tools, under confidentiality obligations.
• Legal and safety reasons, where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
• Business transfers, if we are ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, and understand how the site is used through analytics. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works. Where required, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

7. Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including to provide the service, meet legal and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email us at hello@gotbetter.co and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. International transfers

Got Better operates globally, and our team and service providers may be located in different countries, including India and the United States. This means your information may be processed outside your home country. Where required, we take steps to ensure your data receives an appropriate level of protection.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to address issues promptly if they arise.

11. Children

Got Better is intended for people aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
